Renewals

The loan period of a borrowed book can be extended if

  •  no reservation has been made,
  •  the maximum loan period of 180 days has not yet been reached,
  •  your fee account has not yet exceeded the limit of €40 or is blocked for other reasons,
  •  you have a valid ULB Düsseldorf library card.

The loan period of interlibrary loans cannot be extended!

How to renew an item:

  1.  Call up the ULB catalogue and click on Login at the top right.
  2.  If you are a Heinrich Heine University member log in with your Uni ID.
  3.  Other patrons please enter the number on your library card and your password. If you have forgotten your password, please contact the central service desk on the ground floor of the Central Library.
  4.  Click on Your account and then on Items on loan.
  5.  A list of items you have currently borrowed, arranged chronologically according to the end of the loan period, will be shown.
  6.  If there are no reservations or other obstacles, you can extend the loan periods of all currently borrowed media by clicking on Renew all items or extend the loan periods of individual, previously marked, titles by clicking on Renew selected items. When renewing all loans in your account, please pay attention to any items that cannot be renewed!

Important: The loan period is extended by 28 days on the day of renewal. This means that if you renew on the day after the first loan, the return period will only be postponed by 1 day.

However, you should renew in good time! Even if you cannot extend at short notice for technical reasons – for example due to server problems, power failure, etc. – overdue fees will apply. Under above conditions, you may extend as often as you like!
